Assam: Congress President Kharge Slams BJP’s Allegations of Manifesto Similarity with Muslim League

Northeast Desk, 27th April: Addressing a public rally in Assam’s Barpeta, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge vehemently refuted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s accusations of similarities between the Congress manifesto and that of the Muslim League, denouncing the claims as “shameful” attempts to undermine the Congress party’s agenda.

Kharge, addressing a gathering of supporters, dismissed the allegations, asserting that everything outlined in the Congress manifesto is aimed at benefiting the poor, youth, farmers, and women. He labeled the BJP’s assertions as baseless and shameful, emphasizing that the quoted points were not even present in their manifesto.

Highlighting the foundational initiatives undertaken during the Congress-led tenure at the Centre, Kharge credited former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi for implementing policies aimed at uplifting the underprivileged segments of society. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to acknowledge the groundwork laid by the Congress party in implementing key welfare schemes such as the right to food, right to work, RTI, and RTE.

Expressing dismay over the BJP’s refusal to engage in dialogue, Kharge revealed his attempts to clarify the Congress manifesto’s objectives to PM Modi, which were allegedly rebuffed. He lamented a perceived lack of willingness on the part of the ruling party to engage in constructive discourse.
