Assam: Contractual Teachers’ Association urged govt’s help for Pulak Bhuyan’s family

Guwahati: The All-Assam Contractual Teachers Association has written to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma requesting assistance for the family of Pulak Bhuyan, who died of kidney disease at a young age.

Pulak Bhuyan, who passed away on April 30, is survived by his wife and a son. Bhuyan, who had started as a contractual Science teacher at Binduguri High School in Tezpur of Sonitpur district had kidney disease and died on April 30.

Bhuyan, who started as a contractual teacher in 2010 has worked at the school for 11 years and was chosen for regularisation after serving as a contractual teacher for 11 years.

After suffering from the sickness for six years, his mother donated a kidney to him after which he recovered from the disease, but his untimely death has devastated his family.

The teachers’ union encouraged the state government to hire Bhuyan’s wife, Mitali Hazarika Bhuyan, who holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in education, in order to save the family, which includes a two-year-old son.
