Assam: DCP Announces Safety Measures for IPL Matches

Guwahati: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic released guidelines on Tuesday in order to prevent any untoward incidents during the IPL matches in Guwahati from April 5th to 8thy.

According to the rules, from 11 a.m. on April 5 to 1 a.m. on April 6 commercial vehicles will not be permitted to travel on National Highways 17 and 27.

However, on April 8 from 5 am to 10 pm, comercial vehicles will not be permitted to travel on National Highways 17 and 27.

”Movement of commercial and three-wheelers on AK Azad Road and AK Deb Road have been restricted from 1 pm to 11:45 pm on April 5 and from 11 am to 10 pm on April 8 during the match,” the DCP traffic added

In addition, parking spaces have been set up at Champawati Field, Ganeshpara Field, Datalpara Field, Ambari Rangpathar, PWD Field and Latashil Ambari for vehicles arriving via AK Deb Road.

The rules also specified that AK Azad Road would be one-way on April 5 from 3 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. and on April 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. However, movement of vehicles from the Cycle plant in the direction of Lakhra Chariali will not be permitted.

Additionally, vehicles won’t be allowed from Lakhara Chariali except for car pass holders for matches, schools, buses, and emergency vehicles including ambulances and fire tenders.

”Barsapara road from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali shall be one way for vehicles with car passes from 3 pm to 11:45 pm on April 5 and 11:30 am to 10 pm on April 8,” he added.

The second game between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals is planned for April 8 at 3:30 pm. The highly awaited match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings is slated for 7:30 pm on April 5. Cricket fans in the city of Guwahati are thrilled about the arrival of the IPL teams.
