Guwahati, 25th May: In light of the ongoing heat wave in Assam, Director-General of Police (DGP) GP Singh has reached out to the state’s citizens for their assistance in supporting police personnel enduring high temperatures. Through a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh highlighted the challenges faced by officers and urged the warm-hearted residents to help mitigate these difficulties.

He called on the public to provide drinking water to police personnel stationed near their homes, offices, and commercial establishments. Highlighting the importance of staying hydrated in such extreme weather conditions, Singh requested the public’s cooperation in ensuring that officers have access to drinking water.

“An appeal to helpful and warm-hearted people of Assam – In view of continuous high temperatures, it is requested that drinking water please be provided to policemen and women deployed near your houses, offices, and commercial & business establishments as long as the heat wave lasts. Our police personnel have been advised to carry water bottles with them, we would be grateful if these bottles were refilled as and when required. Assam Police shall always remain grateful,” Singh tweeted.

The DGP’s appeal included a specific request for refilling the water bottles carried by police officers as needed, aiming to address the challenges posed by the extreme heat. This gesture seeks to foster community support and ensure the well-being of those serving on the front lines during the heat wave.
