Assam: Dhubri Police Rescue Two Bangladeshi Nationals; Foil Kidnapping Ransom Plot

Guwahati, 25th May: In a swift and decisive operation, Dhubri police successfully rescued two Bangladeshi nationals who were kidnapped on May 23 in the Aminarchar area of Dhubri, Assam. The victims, Rabiul Islam, 27, from Mahalguri, Jamalpur, and Mostofa Kamal, 36, from Faridpur Sadar, Faridpur, were held for a ransom of Rs 15 lakh. The kidnappers had threatened to kill them if the ransom was not paid.

Acting on intelligence and alertness from the victims, the Dhubri police intercepted the kidnappers during the ransom settlement, which was to be conducted through a hawala transaction. Taking advantage of the situation, the victims managed to alert the nearest Bazar Town Police Out Post, leading to the successful operation.

The police apprehended four suspects identified as Akabar Ali, Shahalom, Asmat Ali, and Askad Ali, all residents of Aminarchar. The quick response from the Dhubri police ensured the safety of the kidnapped individuals and led to the capture of the culprits.

The investigation into the kidnapping and the motives behind it is ongoing, and further details are awaited. This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and the effectiveness of the police force in responding to such critical situations.
