Assam: DGP Orders Transfer of 83 Sub-Inspectors
Guwahati, 21 May: As a result of the mysterious death of Assam’s Morikolong sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha the state home department was forced to make a number of replacements during the past 72 hours.
The transfer orders for about 83 sub-inspectors of various DEFs/Organizations/Units were issued by Assam Director General of Police GP Singh on Saturday just hours after transferring Superintendents of Police and Additional Superintendents of Police.
The transfer order was made in response to openings in the other DEFs, Organisations and Units, according to a notification.


Following this, Assam Police headquarters issued a directive to 83 sub-inspectors from different parts of the Assam Police on Saturday night. It may be recalled that at a press conference held at the Assam Police headquarters in Ulubari on Saturday, Director General of Assam Police G P Singh had told the media that the police officers who have been staying at the same place for three years would be transferred.
Earlier, Assam government has selected IPS officer Anand Mishra as the new SP of North Lakhimpur in the most recent development which comes hours after it was revealed that the Superintendent of Police (SP) of North Lakhimpur and Nagaon had been transferred.
On the other hand, Nabaneet Mahanta, Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi is transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Nagaon And Leena Doley has been chosen to serve as Hailakandi’s SP.
Interestingly, four police officials including Rupjyoti Kalita Additional SP (Crime), Nagaon were closed to Assam Police Headquarters last Friday.
