Assam: Double Murder Shocks Kokrajhar; Mother and Daughter Killed by Son-in-Law
Guwahati, July 25: A brutal double murder has shocked the residents of Shanti Nagar, ward number three, in Kokrajhar. Late last night, Asha (Kalpana) Mallik and her daughter Dwipsikha Mallik were found murdered by their son-in-law, Manav Shah, who remains at large.
The horrifying incident unfolded after what neighbors described as a heated argument emanating from the Mallik residence. Despite the rapid response of local authorities, they arrived too late to prevent the tragedy.
The Kokrajhar police have initiated a preliminary investigation and are actively searching for Manav Shah, who fled the scene immediately after the crime. “We are fully committed to apprehending the suspect and urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact us,” a senior police official stated.
The local community is reeling from the news, as Asha Mallik, known as Kalpana, was a beloved and respected member, renowned for her kindness. Her daughter, Dwipsikha, was a promising young woman with a bright future. The motive behind the double murder remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
