Sikkim: Himalayan Adventure Team Successfully Climbs Mt. Kangyatse-I and II

Northeast Desk, 25th July: A ten-member team from the Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism (IHCAE) has triumphantly returned to Leh after a successful expedition to Mt. Kangyatse-I and Mt. Kangyatse-II in the Ladakh Himalaya. The team, led by Rajiv Rai and technical leader Shanti Rai, completed the climb within a week.

The expedition was flagged off by Chief Minister PS Tamang on July 10, 2024. The team commenced their trek from Markha village on July 17 and reached Base Camp the following day. Due to challenging conditions, they adjusted their strategy, choosing to attempt Kangyatse-I first.

This marked the first State Government-funded expedition by the IHCAE. The team extended their sincere thanks to Chief Minister PS Tamang, Minister Sh TT Bhutia, Minister-cum-Area MLA Sh Bhoj Raj Rai, Principal Secretary to the Tourism Department Sh CS Rao, Secretary to the Tourism Department Sh Prakash Chettri, and Principal IHCAE Everester Sh Kazi Sherpa for their invaluable support and guidance.
