Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Karimganj Police in Assam seized drugs worth around Rs 60 crores and also arrested one person , officials informed on Tuesday.
According to reports, a sizable shipment of narcotic tablets was seized in an operation in Karimganj’s Badarpur.
Reportedly, an operation was carried out at Nischintpur village in Karimganj as a result of a tip-off about a potential smuggling attempt.
During the operation, police stopped a car and checked it as part of standard inspections, discovering the smuggled illegal narcotic tablets hidden within. The cops were able to identify the vehicle as a Maruti Alto.
Meanwhile, the car’s driver was taken into custody by authorities and he has now been accused of transporting illegal narcotics. The accused has been identified as Jamaluddin, police said.
