Assam: EC announces for KAAC Elections To be Held on June 8
Guwahati: Assam State Election Commissioner Alok Kumar on Thursday announced that date of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections to be held on June.
According to reports, the KAAC elections will be held on June 8 and the results will be announced on June 12.
A total of 906 polling stations will be used to vote for 26 seats. There are a total of 73,298 voters that are eligible to vote.
The election commissioner was in Diphu on a two-day visit to review preparations for the Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong hill districts’ KAAC elections. Kumar met with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Karbi Anglong, Prabin Ch. Saloi, DIG Central Range, Pushpraj Singh, SP Karbi Anlgong, and SDO (Civil) Bokajan in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall during his visit.
“Normally, the KAAC election is place in June, and a new administration is elected by July, thus the poll must be held by June,” Kumar explained.
The SEC also paid a visit to Hamren and met with the West Karbi Anglong District Commissioner.
