Assam: Ex-CM’s son arrested in bank fraud case

Guwahati: Ashok Saikia, son of the former Assam’s Chief Minister Hiteshwar Saikia was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in a bank fraud case in Guwahati.

According to reports, Ashok was interrogated by a team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)and later he was arrested in the matter. His house was also raided by the officials.

Officials informed that the accused will be brought before the court on Monday. The case concerns an Assam Cooperative and Agriculture Development Bank loan.

It may be mentioned that the loan amount is about 9 lakh and the matter is 25 years old.
