Assam Flood: 3 Dead, Around 25,000 Affected
Guwahati: Every year the people of Assam faces destruction and loss due to flood or heavy rainfall along with storm and in the same way this year also around 25,000 people across six districts in Assam were affected by artificial floods triggered by heavy rain.
Along with heavy rain landslide incidents have also been reported in the state and at least three people including a woman died due to landslide in the Dima Hasao district on Saturday.
Moreover, following the continuous rain the water level of rivers is also increasing and the water in Kopili river have already crossed the danger level mark.
On the other hand, neighbouring states including Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh also witnessed heavy rains, resulting in massive floods.
As per the reports of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) across six districts of the state – Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) a total of 24,681 people in 94 villages were affected in the first spell of flood.
Meanwhile, in Cachar district alone, over 21,000 people were affected. The Army, para-military forces, SDRF ,Fire and Emergency Services on Saturday had rescued 2,150 people from flood-hit areas of Cachar district.
Notably, the flood waters have also submerged 1732.72 hectares of cropland in the flood hit districts.
