Assam Floods: 4 Dead in 24 Hours, 11.09 Lakh People Affected

Guwahati: Four people have died in the last 24 hours as a result of flooding in Assam.

Over 11.09 lakh people have been affected by the recent floods in the state’s 25 districts and 72 revenue circles.

The water levels of the Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, Kopili, Gaurang, and Brahmaputra rivers are also over the danger limit in several parts of Assam.

Flood waves have inundated 19782.80 hectares of agriculture in 1,510 villages across the state’s flood-affected regions.

Meanwhile, water logging has brought most of Guwahati to a halt as a result of the continuous rain. Throughout addition, several landslides have been reported in the city.

The Kamrup Metropolitan district’s educational institutions are all closed today. The Deputy Commissioner of the Dima Hasao district has ordered the closure of all educational institutes from June 15 to 18.

Water logging on the rails between Nalbari and Ghograpar in the Rangiya division of Lower Assam has forced the cancellation of at least six trains and the partial cancellation of four others.

The water levels of the rivers Borolia, Pagladiya, and Motonga have risen because of the recent rain showers. Several villages in Tamulpur have been swamped by flood waters, including Kekerikuchi, Dwarkuchi, and Bodoland Chowk, and thousands of acres of agriculture have been affected, as well as roadways.
