Assam Floods: Singer Sonu Nigam donates Rs 5 Lakh to CM Relief Fund
Guwahati: Bollywood’s famed singer Sonu Nigam donated Rs. 5 lakhs to the chief minister’s (CM) relief fund to help with flood relief and recovery efforts on Tuesday.
With over 80 people killed so far this year, Assam has been hit by one of the worst floods in the country with excessive rain falling across the state.
Informing it, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “Empathising with the flood-affected people of Assam, renowned singer Shri Sonu Nigam contributed ₹5 lakh to CM Relief Fund as assistance to our relief and rehabilitation measures. My deep gratitude to him for his concern and act of benevolence.”

Earlier, T-Series MD Bhushan Kumar had already donated Rs 11 lakh to the CM’s fund while Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and director Rohit Shetty both gave Rs 5 lakh.
Spiritual leader the Dalai Lama declared that he will give to flood-ravaged Assam “as a show of my solidarity” with the state’s people on Tuesday.
