Eknath Shinde On Reaching Guwahati: Will Carry Balasaheb’s Hindutva
Guwahati: In a big political development, as many as 40 Shiv Sena MLAs along with minister Eknath Shinde arrived in Assam on Wednesday and said that they will carry Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva agenda.
Shinde and other MLAs arrived in Guwahati from Surat in Gujarat amid escalating political unrest inside the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra. They are currently residing at a Hotel Radisson Blu.
Chief Minister’s personal assistant, Malind Narvekar and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Ravindra Fatak held a meeting with Eknath Shinde at Surat’s Le Meridien hotel on Tuesday evening in an attempt to comfort him and persuade him to return.
In contrast, Shinde’s comments come at a time when rumours are rampant that he along with 40 other MLAs, may join the BJP in an effort to overthrow the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
“A total of 40 Shiv Sena MLAs is present here. We will carry Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva,” said Shinde after arriving in Guwahati.
The Shiv Sena ministers along with all the 40 MLAs were received by BJP MLA Sushanta Borgohain and BJP MP Pallab Lochan Das at Guwahati airport.
On Wednesday at 1 pm, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray called a meeting of the Cabinet.
On the other hand, the party has appointed MLA Ajay Chaudhary to succeed Shinde as party group leader.
