Guwahati: As many as four miscreants were arrested in Assam for brutally mauling a stray dog, an act that can only be defined as wicked and terrible.
The incident was reported in Mangaldai under Darrang district.
The cruel incident was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media, showing the four men putting the poor puppy in a wooden box. The others laugh as one of them proceeds to yank a dog limb out of a hole and viciously slice it off with a machete.
The four criminals were promptly arrested by the police after the incident and they were taken to the Mangaldai police station.
The arrestees have been identified as Mahendra Deka, Kumud Deka, Bhau Deka and Bipul Deka.
According to the police, a case has been filed against them under IPC Section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming Animal) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
There are no adequate words to convey the incident’s savagery. Internet users have harshly denounced the conduct and urged the authorities to impose harsher sanctions on the perpetrators.
