Guwahati: Assam Police arrested a person on March 18 for allegedly being the mastermind behind the fake rumors of HSLC Geography question paper leak case.
According to reports, the suspected person has been identified as Masum Ali who is a resident from Nagaon district of Assam.
As soon as allegations of the HSLC exam’s Geography paper leak began to circulate throughout the state, Assam’s education minister, Dr. Ranoj Pegu was quick to refute them and claim the exam’s geography paper was actually from 2021 and had simply been altered by some miscreants.
”The Geography Question Paper circulated in social media allegedly of the leak is fake. SEBA authority has confirmed that it is fake. Instructed concerned officer to lodge FIR in Police station,” Pegu tweeted.
The Minister added urged students not to be misled by such false information on social media until SEBA clarified the situation.
He further asserted that some miscreants sought to confuse the pupils by spreading a copy of an outdated exam online.
“I appeal to the students not to get confused by such fake news on social media unless SEBA gives a clarification. It is already clear that this is not the question paper this time but the old question paper. A case will be registered against it,’’ Pegu added.
