Assam Girl awarded Best Female Actor
Guwahati: A 22-year-old girl from Assam’s Lakhimpur district was awarded as the Best Actress at the Ottawa Indian Film Festival.
Shiva Rani Kalita, who works in a departmental store in North Lakhimpur was awarded for her performance in the Assamese film ‘Bridge’ which was directed by Kripal Kalita.
The film highlights the destructions that were caused by the floods in Assam and the relationship that people have with the river Brahmaputra. The film so far has been screened at 28 international film festivals.
Shiva Rani after winning the award said that she dreamt of becoming a film actress as she always acted in dramas or stage plays. She got the offer for the film when she was graduating in science.
The 4th Ottawa Indian Film Festival Awards was held in Canada on June 22 and the entire festival ended on June 26.
