Assam: Gold Smuggling Suspect Apprehended in Dhubri District

Guwahati, 20th November: In a targeted operation based on a tip-off, Assam’s Dhubri district witnesses the arrest of a suspected gold smuggler in Golakganj. The individual, identified as Ainal Haq from Bhokdanga village near the Indo-Bangladesh border, was intercepted by police while en route to Gauripur on his motorcycle.

A total of eight gold bars were confiscated from Haq during the operation, leading to his immediate arrest. Currently in police custody, Haq is under investigation, with authorities suspecting his involvement in a broader gold smuggling racket along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The arrest underscores efforts to curb illicit activities in the region.
