Assam Government Led by CM Sarma Completes One Year in Office

Guwahati: The Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, completed a year in office (May 10) on Tuesday. On the one-year anniversary of the government, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the state to participate in many programmes and to launch several projects.

The home minister is also slated to launch the Assam Government’s development and governance-oriented newsletter today.

The first issue of Asom Barta (‘Voice of Assam’) will be released on the first anniversary of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition administration. After Sarbananda Sonowal, he was sworn in as Assam’s second Chief Minister in a BJP-led government on May 10, 2021.

The State Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) issued the newsletter.

“Asom Barta will keep readers up to date on the State Government’s current programmes and policies, as well as report on the implementation of government projects.” Citizens, intellectuals, and freelance journalists will be able to make constructive comments to the Assam government through the newsletter, according to Bishnu Kamal Bora, the newsletter’s editor-in-chief. He is also the DIPR’s Director.

According to Mr. Bora, the government’s first-phase goal is to reach 1 crore readers through various new media and social media channels. Over 10,000 paper copies of the newsletter will be printed and distributed on a regular basis to all State Government offices at the district and block levels, as well as to prominent persons across the country.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also took to Twitter to mark its one-year celebration. As a part of the celebration, home minister Amit Shah planted a sapling as a symbol of another new beginning. “Marking completion of one year of our Govt, we’re blessed to have august presence of Hon Union HM Shri @AmitShah ji amidst us. He planted a sapling today as a symbol of another new beginning & embodiment of our unflinching commitment,” CM Sarma said in a tweet.
