Assam Govt reserves medical college seats for Koch Rajbongshi, Ahom & Chutia students
The Assam government has decided to reserve seats at medical colleges for the students belonging to Koch Rajbongshi, Ahom and Chutia communities, announced health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at a press meet in Guwahati.
“Eight seats for Koch and Rajbongshis, five for Ahoms and four seats for Chutia community have been reserved for this year medical admission. Among the six tribes demanding ST status, Moran, Muttock and Tea tribe have already availed the reservation,” Sarma said.
He stated that 100 medical seats will be increased in the state as the admission process to Diphu Medical College will begin from this year.
