Assam Govt Signs Deal With OIL For 8 Petroleum Mining Blocks

Guwahati: The Assam government has signed a Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) with Oil India Ltd. (OIL)for the exploration of petroleum products in eight blocks.

Dibrugarh, Dibrugarh Extension, Hugrijan Extension, Borhapjan, Borhat, Moran, Doom Dooma Extension, and Mechaki Extension are the eight blocks.

The state government is likely to collect more than Rs 2000 crore from OIL each year as a result of this.

Jogen Mohan, Assam Mines and Minerals Minister, Dr. K.K. Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, Mines and Minerals Department, Nandita Dutta, Secretary to Mines and Minerals Department, and Prasanta Borkakoty, RCE of Oil India Ltd were all present.

The ceremony took place in the conference hall of the minister’s office in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Ananda Kumar Das, joint secretary and director (geology and mining) for the Assam government, and Agadh Medhi, executive director (Frontier Basin) for OIL, signed the deed.

Furthermore, Mohan stated that the state government is prepared to assist OIL in its search for hydrocarbons in any way feasible.

He also asked OIL to increase local job creation and emphasised the importance of national energy self-sufficiency and economic prosperity for the country.
