Assam: Man trampled to death by wild elephant in Baksa

Guwahati: A 55-year-old man was crushed to death by a wild elephant in Baksa district of Assam, near the Indo-Bhutan border on Sunday night.

The deceased identified as Narayan Darzi.

According to reports, the wild elephant barged into the victim’s residence in the middle of the night while he was deep asleep.

Reportedly, the elephant then began destroying the house.

Meanwhile, forest officials and police arrived at the spot after receiving information and assessed the situation.

Forest officials said that the wild elephant may have wandered into the village in search of food, as the rains have severely impacted their food supply.
