Assam: Massive fire breaks out in Kokrajhar
Guwahati: A massive fire broke out in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Saturday.
The incident took place at the Badlangmari market area under the Kokrajhar police station of the district.
According to reports, nine local markets were completely gutted in the fire.
The owners of markets have been identified as Falu Sk, Mozid Bokkul, Nurislam, Sajaham Manik, Jolil Hakim, and Rohim.
However, the reason behind the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.
Three fire tenders rushed to the affected place and doused the fire.
Meanwhile, Joidul Islam the central committee spokesperson of All B.T.C. Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) said that the owners of the markets were destitute and were distressed over their shops being burnt down. He also urged the government to offer them with financial aid.
It may be mentioned that 19 to 20 lakhs of properties were reportedly engulfed in the fire.
