Assam: Migratory Birds Begin Arriving at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary As Winter Approaches

Guwahati: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon district of Assam has begun to see the arrival of migratory birds as winter sets in. During the winter, these birds fly thousands of kilometres from Europe and the Himalayan region to this wildlife sanctuary in Assam.

The nature refuge is currently home to thousands of migratory birds.

A sizable number of migratory birds from Siberia, Europe and the foothills of the Himalayas make Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary their home every winter. The sanctuary is also the last remaining home of the critically endangered one-horned rhinoceros.

These birds fly there to get away from the chilling winters in Siberia and Europe.
