Assam Minister Slams 16 Dogs’ Killing as “Shame on Humanity”

Guwahati: Assam Panchayat & Rural Development Minister, Ranjeet Kumar Dass spoke out against the alleged poisoning death of 16 street dogs in Sorbhog in the Barpeta district on Wednesday.

The senior BJP official is a Sorbhog native. Dass referred to the murder as “a shame on humanity.”

Expressing his grief on Twitter, Dass wrote, “Disheartened to witness the cruelty our street dogs have to go through. I condemn the monstrous act of 16 dogs in Sorbhog being poisoned to death. The culprits should receive their deserved punishment. It’s a shame on humanity if we fail to protect the voiceless (sic).”

In a shocking act of barbarism, 16 street dogs were allegedly poisoned with goat meat before being handed to them at Highway Chowk in Sorbhog.

An FIR has been filed at the Sorbhog Police Station by an animal lover. The police have launched an inquiry and are looking for the culprits.

The animal lovers flocked to social media in a fit of rage to demand harsh punishment for those to blame.
