Assam: Miscreants looted temple in Kharupetia
Guwahati: Valuables worth several lakhs were stolen from the historic Hanuman Mandir at Kharupetia town of Darrang district in Assam on Monday night.
According to reports, the miscreants stormed into the main temple by breaking several locks and allegedly looted four idols.
The miscreants also looted cash notes by breaking the donation box.
Meanwhile, locals have pointed fingers at senior Kharupetia police personnel for their slow response, in stark contrast to the state government’s recent proposal to elevate Assam Police to “smart police.”
It may be mentioned that the police have initiated an investigation however till the filing of this report no report of arrest has been received.
