Assam: Nomination Papers of Two-Time MP from Kokrajhar Rejected During Scrutiny

Guwahati, 21st April: During the scrutiny process for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the nomination papers of two-time sitting MP from Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Constituency, Naba Kumar Sarania, have been rejected by the Returning Officer, Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi.

According to the Kokrajhar Returning Officer, out of a total of 16 candidates, Naba Kumar Sarania’s nomination papers were found invalid and rejected during scrutiny. The process, witnessed by the General Observer, Returning Officer, and contesting candidates, along with their agents and proposers, adhered strictly to election laws.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is tomorrow, April 22, adding urgency to the situation. The district administration is fully prepared to conduct the election in a free and fair manner, ensuring transparency and adherence to electoral guidelines.

The Returning Officer emphasized the administration’s vigilance against malpractices such as the misuse of money, muscle power, violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), and dissemination of misinformation. Candidates and parties were urged to remain vigilant and report any violations promptly to the administration.
