Guwahati, 22nd May: In a distressing turn of events, Lance Naik (LNK) Jagatjyoti Dey, responsible for managing rifles and ammunition at the Junitilla Police Reserve in Karimganj, attempted suicide by inflicting severe injuries upon himself. Dey resorted to slashing his neck and penis in a desperate bid to end his life.
The injured officer was promptly rushed to Karimganj Civil Hospital, where he received initial medical attention. However, due to the severity of his injuries and excessive bleeding, he was subsequently transferred to Silchar Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
Dey’s crucial role as the caretaker of rifles and magazines at the Junitilla Police Reserve underscores the gravity of this incident. The motive behind his drastic action remains shrouded in mystery, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances leading to the suicide attempt.
