Arunachal: Saloma Yomdo Appointed as Director (Exploration & Development) of Oil India Limited

Northeast Desk, 22nd May: Oil India Limited, a prominent Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), has announced the appointment of Saloma Yomdo as its next Director (Exploration & Development).

Hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, Yomdo’s selection comes after a rigorous interview process conducted by the PESB Selection Panel on May 20, where he emerged as the standout candidate from a pool of 12 contenders.

Son of Late Sater Yomdo and Late Yapa Kholie Yomdo, Saloma Yomdo traces his roots to Nyapin in Kurung Kumey district, Arunachal Pradesh. His journey within Oil India Limited has been marked by relentless dedication and exceptional performance, leading to his elevation to this crucial leadership position.

Yomdo’s responsibilities as Director (Exploration & Development) encompass overseeing all activities related to the E&D domain of Oil India Limited across India and overseas. His extensive experience and technical expertise make him well-suited to formulate exploratory policies, manage budgets, and monitor the progress of exploration and development programs.

A distinguished alumnus of Govt. Higher Secondary School Tezu and RK Mission School, Narottam Nagar, Yomdo furthered his education in Petroleum Engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad. Joining Oil India Limited through campus recruitment in 1994, he has since made significant contributions to the company’s growth and success.

Beyond his professional achievements, Yomdo’s active involvement in international and national forums, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), USA, and the Association of Petroleum Geologists (APG), reflects his commitment to advancing the field of petroleum engineering.

In his new role, Yomdo will serve as a key member of the Board of Directors, reporting directly to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). His appointment heralds a new chapter of strategic leadership and innovation for Oil India Limited, poised to drive the company’s exploration and development initiatives to greater heights.
