Assam: One held with fake gold biscuit in Rangia

Guwahati: One person has been arrested by Assam Police in connection with the fake gold biscuits smuggling case from Udiana village in Rangia in Assam’s Kamrup rural district on Friday.

The arrestee identified as Abdul Kadir who is a resident of Assam’s Tezpur.

According to reports, an operation was carried out based on intelligence concerning a gang bringing illegal gold to Rangia. They came across a person with four gold biscuits during the operation.

On additional verification, it came to light that the biscuits were fake.

Reportedly, the accused had plans of selling the biscuits to a person in Udiana on the pretence of it being real.

It may be mentioned that he has been taken into custody by the police officials. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are on the hunt for others involved in the case.
