Assam: Only 1 girl Joined ULFA-I, Chief claims
Guwahati: Following allegations that two girls from Guwahati had joined the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), the outfit’s commander Paresh Baruah, told a private news channel that just one girl had joined.
According to Paresh Baruah, the allegations of the girls joining the outfit were only half genuine, since just one girl joined. He stated that he is not usually informed about all new recruits, but that he was informed about a girl with the surname Das joining the outfit, but that there was no one with the surname Deka.
He further stated that people will continue to join the group until a solution to the ULFA-demands I’s is found.
Youth join the organisation for a variety of reasons, according to Baruah.
According to him, 70% of them join because they love Assam while others join due to family obligations.
He further stated that some are even plotted by the Army or intelligence.
It may be noted that two Guwahati city girls were suspected of joining the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).
Both of the girls were said to live in Kharguli, Uzan Bazar.
However, the ULFA-I chief’s remark about only one girl joining raises the question of where the other girl went.
