PREPAK took responsibility for IED blast in Manipur
Guwahati: The banned terrorist group People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak has claimed responsibility for a recent blast in Manipur’s Kakching district that injured two ITBP jawans, claiming the incident was planned in advance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit on Tuesday.
Two ITBP soldiers from Uttarakhand were injured in an IED blast in the Wangoo Lupa Maroop area of the district on Sunday evening.
“The explosion was triggered in connection with PM Modi’s visit on Tuesday,” PREPAK said in a statement.
Modi is scheduled to address a poll rally in Imphal on Tuesday.
Manipur’s assembly elections will be place in two stages, on February 28 and March 5.
The jawans who are being treated in a hospital were on night patrol when the blast happened, police said.
