Assam: Only 1 rhino poaching case in 2021, lowest in 21 years

Guwahati: Assam witnessed the lowest rhino poaching case in 21 years. In 2021 in the state, only one rhino poaching case was reported.

This was announced to the community on Saturday by a senior police official. In Assam, Special DGP GP Singh, the head of the anti-rhino poaching task force, stated rhino poaching had reached an all-time low in 2021.

“There was only one occurrence of rhino poaching in the year 2021 in April.”

The control of one-horn rhino poaching has been a crucial success of the Anti-Poaching Task Force, according to GP Singh.

The anti-poaching task force in Assam, according to Singh, will be strict in tackling rhino poaching.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sharing the news on Twitter wrote, “ It’s commendable that in 2021, no. of rhinos lost to poaching was lowest in 21 yrs A huge milestone in our efforts to eliminate the menace of poaching from our state Kudos to our Forest Guards & officials of @kaziranga_for their sincere efforts to protect Assam’s beloved icon.”
