Assam: Panic grips after Grenade recovered outside Army camp in Tinsukia

Guwahati, 5th December: Days after a powerful explosion occurred near the army cantonment area in Dirak, Kakopothar under Tinsukia district, another grenade was recovered in proximity to the cantonment area on December 4.

There is suspicion that miscreants may have thrown the grenade, and it landed on the roof of a civilian’s house.

According to sources, the grenade was found on the roof of a house belonging to a man named Chinteshwar Chetia.

To provide context, Saurav Asom, a member of the ULFA-I expeditionary unit, had previously thrown a grenade near the Dirak army camp. Parag Bora of Philobari Chikarajan, who aided Saurav Asom as an accomplice by assisting him with a bike ride, was arrested on Monday and subsequently sent to jail by the Tinsukia police.

The Army’s bomb disposal squad successfully defused the grenade found near Dirak Kapahatali army camp in Tinsukia. Additionally, a team from the army camp in Dinjan defused another powerful bomb on a school ground, which had exploded with a loud noise.

Meanwhile, the incident has caused a sensation in the area, prompting an ongoing probe to determine the real culprit behind these disturbing events.
