Assam: PM Modi’s Upcoming Visit to Herald Healthcare Transformation, GMCH Remodeling in Focus

Guwahati, 2nd February: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma shared exciting news about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Assam on February 3. The visit is significant as it marks the commencement of groundbreaking healthcare initiatives, notably the extensive remodeling of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCh), positioned to emerge as the largest medical facility in eastern India.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Sarma provided insights into the ambitious project, revealing the comprehensive transformation planned for the current GMCh building. The vision is to turn it into a state-of-the-art facility capable of accommodating approximately 3,500 patients concurrently. This Rs 3250 crores project aims to establish a cutting-edge hospital, strategically designed to meet the escalating healthcare demands of the region.

Adding to the comprehensive healthcare agenda, Chief Minister Sarma revealed that Prime Minister Modi would also lay the foundation stone for the Karimganj Medical College in Ratabari, further emphasizing the commitment to bolstering healthcare facilities across the state.
