Assam Police Detains College Professor for Alleged Sexual Harassment of Over 50 Students
Guwahati, 23rd July: In a shocking development, Assam Police on July 23 detained a professor from North Lakhimpur College in Assam on charges of sexually harassing more than 50 students. The incident has caused widespread concern across the state, as the premier educational institution becomes embroiled in yet another controversy.
Dr. Hemant Sharma, a professor in the Assamese department of the college, is at the center of serious allegations raised by 58 students. They accuse him of engaging in inappropriate behavior, including drinking and unwarranted physical contact with the students.
Prompt action was taken by the Lakhimpur Police, who detained Dr. Hemant Sharma for questioning regarding the alleged incidents.
