Guwahati: Smugglers always find new ways to smuggle anything that they deal with and going on similar lines, a team of Assam Police intercepted a drug-loaded with a huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor in Sonitpur’s Thelamara.
The interesting fact was that the liquor was being transported illegally to Uttar Pradesh from Arunachal Pradesh via Assam. The container truck was disguised as a vehicle loaded with bamboo but the police had specific inputs about a suspected attempt of IMFL smuggling.
The truck after being intercepted by the police was thoroughly searched and the police were shocked to see the “technique” the trucker and the smugglers were using to smuggle the liquor. The container of the truck was stacked with bamboo and it was “portrayed” as if the truck was carrying only the bamboo poles and nothing else. The police then took a closer look and found that a huge consignment of liquor was being stacked under the bamboo poles.
The police had immediately detained the truck driver and the truck along with the consignment was seized.
