Assam: Police nab imposters posing as senior cops
Guwahati, 5th September: Morigaon police arrested two individuals on Monday night who were impersonating senior police officers and seized a range of objectionable items from their possession.
The two arrested individuals, identified as Umar Farooq and Rasidul Islam, were posing as Superintendent of Police (SP), according to sources.
The duo was apprehended during an operation conducted late Monday night at a shop located in Durabandhi Gaon, within the Laharighat area of the district. During the operation, the police also confiscated counterfeit rubber stamps bearing the insignias of the District Commissionerate and the SP’s office from their possession.
In addition to the fake stamps, the police recovered a laptop, a printer, and a swipe machine from the duo. Sources suggest that the individuals allegedly used the counterfeit rubber stamps to produce and issue fake certificates in exchange for monetary gain.
An ongoing investigation aims to uncover further connections and details related to their activities.
