Assam Police Seize 6,000 Litres Of Crude Oil

Guwahati: Assam Police has seized as much as 6,000 litres of crude oil in Tinsukia district of the state.

Based on a tip-off, Kakopathar police intercepted a dumper truck registration bearing number NL-04-D-6319 which was used by miscreants to steal crude oil.

During the search, officials seized the large quantity of crude oil.

Moreover, two smugglers have also been arrested in connection to the matter.

The smugglers identified as Digan Dahotia and Kharbajyoti Gogoi.

The incident occurred at Kakopathar town of the dispur.

It is also learned that the accused were trying to smuggle the crude oil from Makum to Dirak.

It needs to be mentioned that theft of crude oil has been a major issue for oil companies like Oil India Limited and the ONGC in Assam. Oil India Limited has even procured drones for surveillance of their pipelines and other wares. The surveillance is mainly done to curb pilferage of crude oil, condensate, theft of pipes, tampering with wellheads, and tapping of crude oil delivery pipelines.
