Guwahati, 4 June: In the ongoing war against drugs, Assam Police on June 3 recovered 143 soap cases in Katagashtal of Silchar containing 2.2 kilogramme of heroin.
Assam Police in Cachar district initiated a search operation after receiving particular information and two people were arrested and their contraband possession was recovered.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to laud the efforts of Cachar police and wrote, “@cacharpolice seized 143 soap cases containing 2.2 kg Heroin at Katagashtal, Silchar. Also apprehended two accused in the operation”.
Police are still looking into possible further connections to the case.
