Assam: Prez Murmu Likely to Attend Kaziranga Elephant Festival

Guwahati: President of India Droupadi Murmu is slated to embark on a two day visit to Kaziranga National Park in Assam April 6.

The president will attend the Elephant Festival which will be held at the national park on April 6 and 7, according to Kaziranga National Park Director Jatindra Sarma.

President Murmu is set to take a jeep and elephant safari in the national park to view and take in its breathtaking vistas.

“The festival will be held at various places in Kaziranga, however, the venues will be determined only after a high-level meeting,” said Director Jatindra Sarma.

It should be noted that the Kaziranga Elephant Festival is an annual event organised to benefit the preservation and protection of Asian elephants.

It is jointly organised by the forest department and the tourism department with the goal of bringing attention to and resolving the state’s growing man-elephant conflict.

Many decorated domestic Asian elephants take part in parades, races, football games and dancing performances, admiring the admiration from the audience.
