Guwahati, 11th June: In a shocking incident, a prisoner allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Assam’s Silchar Central Jail.
The prisoner has been identified as Dilwar Hussain Laskar.
As per sources, Dilwar allegedly hanged himself in his cell.
Dilwar was lodged in jail two months ago in connection with a rape case.
Sources further informed that Dilwar was a resident of Sonai constituency in Cachar district.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police officials arrived at the spot and recovered the body for postmortem examination.
The reason for the extreme step was yet to be ascertained.
It needs to mention that the body has been sent it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
