Assam: Protest Rally in Gosaigaon Condemns Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh

Gosaigaon, August 21, 2024 A massive protest rally swept through the streets of Gosaigaon today as locals expressed their anger and concern over the recent surge in violence targeting Hindus in neighboring Bangladesh. The unrest in Bangladesh has reportedly led to killings, the destruction of property, and the desecration of religious sites, including monasteries and temples, sparking widespread fear among the Hindu community in Assam.

The rally, organized by the Greater Gossaigaon Sanatani Samaj—a coalition of political organizations and ethnic groups—began at Kamal Nath Club Kam Library. Hundreds of protestors marched through the city streets, eventually gathering at the office of the Gosaigaon sub-divisional magistrate to voice their demands.

Throughout the rally, participants called for immediate intervention to protect Hindus in Bangladesh. Slogans such as “Ensure the safety of the monasteries and temples of the Hindus of Bangladesh” and “Protect the life and property of Sanatani Hindus” echoed through the air, reflecting the deep-seated concerns of the protestors.

The rally concluded with a clear message: the safety and dignity of Hindus in Bangladesh must be preserved, and the international community must step in to prevent further violence and persecution. The protestors urged authorities to take decisive action to ensure the protection of the Hindu minority in Bangladesh, underscoring the need for immediate attention to this humanitarian crisis.
