Assam: Protesters detained by state police during mass sit-in protest against CAA in Tinsukia

Guwahati, 29th February: The Tinsukia unit of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti organized a mass sit-in protest on February 29 against the government’s decision to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The organization has consistently voiced its opposition to the government’s stance on the CAA. The protest witnessed a significant turnout, with members of the KMSS and local residents gathering in large numbers at Thana intersection in Tinsukia town to participate in the sit-in protest.

However, tensions escalated as the police began to disperse the protesters from the site amidst slogans demanding the government to halt the implementation of the CAA in the state. The demonstrators vowed to intensify their resistance against the CAA in the days to come, promising widespread mobilization against the controversial legislation.

Several protesters were reportedly detained and removed from the protest site by the police as the agitation unfolded.
