Guwahati, 7th February: Tensions flared in Assam’s Chirang, as the residence of Bhaskar Mandal, former BJP district secretary and ward member of Basugaon municipality no. 1, was targeted in an attack on February 6.
According to sources, a youth identified as Shubhankar Mandal allegedly vandalized and ransacked the residence of the former BJP district secretary. Basugaon police promptly arrested the alleged attacker.
Reports suggest that the incident may be linked to Bhaskar Mandal’s alleged extramarital affair with Shubhankar Mandal’s wife. Despite warnings from Shubhankar Mandal, Bhaskar Mandal, who recently tied the knot, purportedly continued the affair.
The incident has sparked outrage in Subhashnagar, Basugaon town, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the underlying tensions in the community.
