Assam Rifles Seize Drugs Worth Rs 30.17 Crore in Mizoram, Two Arrested

Northeast Desk, 31st January: In separate operations, Assam Rifles seized drugs valued at Rs 30.17 crore in Mizoram and arrested two individuals. On January 29, 2024, 34.99 grams of Heroin No. 4, worth Rs 17,49,500, were recovered in Zemabawk, Aizawl, leading to the apprehension of one person. Additionally, on January 30, one lakh methamphetamine tablets weighing 11.7 kg, valued at Rs 30 crore, were seized in Zokhawthar, Champhai district, resulting in another arrest. The operations were conducted by a combined team of Assam Rifles, Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime), Aizawl, and the Police Department, Zokhawthar.

Assam Rifles conducted two separate operations in Mizoram, seizing a significant quantity of drugs. On January 29, Heroin No. 4, amounting to 34.99 grams and valued at Rs 17,49,500, was recovered in Zemabawk, Aizawl. Subsequently, on January 30, a substantial haul of one lakh methamphetamine tablets, weighing 11.7 kg and valued at Rs 30 crore, was seized in Zokhawthar, Champhai district. The operations were carried out based on specific information received by the authorities.

Following the successful operations, one individual was apprehended in connection with the recovery of Heroin No. 4, and another individual was arrested after the seizure of methamphetamine tablets. The recovered consignments and the apprehended individuals were handed over to the Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime), Aizawl, and the Police Department, Zokhawthar, respectively. Legal proceedings are set to follow against those involved in the illicit drug activities.

The operations showcased collaborative efforts between Assam Rifles, Special Narcotics Police Station, CID (Crime), Aizawl, and the Police Department, Zokhawthar. The authorities aim to curb the drug trade and associated criminal activities in the region.
