Assam Rifles Seize Over 1,000 Kg of Cannabis In Tripura

Northeast Desk, 24th February: In a significant operation, Assam Rifles sezied approximately 1,024 kg of marijuana valued at Rs 4.09 crore concealed in a warehouse and the adjacent forest area of Bejoynagar, Sidhai Mohanpur, in West Tripura District on February 23.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of illegal marijuana at a warehouse and the nearby forest area of Bijoynagar (Sidhai Mohanpur) in West Tripura District, Assam Rifles collaborated with representatives of the Custom Department, Agartala, to launch a joint operation on February 23.

Upon arrival at the location, Assam Rifles and Custom Department teams cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough search, leading to the discovery of approximately 1,024 kg of marijuana worth Rs 4.09 crore.

The seized marijuana was subsequently handed over to the Custom Department in Agartala. This operation marks a crucial step in curbing the flow of illegal narcotics that could potentially harm the youth of Tripura, safeguarding their health and future.

Assam Rifles remains committed to combating illegal narcotics and drug smuggling activities in the state, aiming to fortify the future of Tripura and its citizens.
