Assam: Street Vendor Dies After Section of Under-Construction Flyover collapsed in Baihata Chariali

Guwahati, 28th February: In a tragic incident, a street vendor lost his life near an under-construction flyover in Baihata Chariali located under Kamrup Rural district of Assam on Wednesday morning.

According to sources, the victim was passing by the under-construction flyover when a massive concrete slab collapsed, fatally crushing him.

The victim, identified as a resident of Khandikar in Rangia, earned a living by selling nuts in buses. His tragic fate befell him at Theta, where the under-construction flyover suffered a catastrophic failure.

The incident has sparked public protests, prompting the closure of the road from Tezpur to Guwahati via Nalbari Mangad. The local community is grappling with the aftermath, highlighting safety concerns surrounding the ongoing construction of the flyover.

A local resident expressed dismay, citing the disregard for safety regulations by laborers involved in the bridge construction. The lack of adherence to safety protocols led to the collapse, resulting in the loss of life and damage to property.
