Guwahati: Legendary Ahom General Lachit Borphukan, the venerated Kamakhya Temple, and other aspects of Assam’s cultural history were highlighted on the state’s tableau in Delhi on Thursday during the 74th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path.
The great Ahom general Lachit Borphukan’s 400th birthday was commemorated in Assam last year. The state government made an attempt to spread awareness of Lachit Borphukan’s narrative among Indian youngsters nationwide and in the state.
Earlier in 2020, the Assamese tableau that highlighted the state’s thriving weaving and handicrafts industry as well as dancing, music, life, and its inhabitants received the award for best tableau at the Republic Day parade.
The tableau was carefully made and attractively displayed Assamese culture, traditions, and heritage on a national level.
